Two ordinations to the diaconate

...and ordinations to minor orders, at the FSSP Seminary at Denton, Nebraska, by Bishop Bruskewitz.

Br Yousef Marie, F.SS.R. and Br Magdala Maria, F.SS.R., were ordained deacon.
Br Dominic F.SS.R. ordained lector - one of the things he does in the ceremony is ring the church's bell.

In total there were 22 ordinations that day, the rest were for the Fraternity of St Peter.

Lots more photos on the Sons' blog.

Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer canonically erected!

At long last, the Sons, of Papa Stronsay in the Orkneys, formerly known as the Transalpine Redemptorists, who are exclusively committed to the Traditional Mass, have been given a permanent and official recognition as a religious order by the local bishop, Bishop Hugh Gilbert of Aberdeen.

They are now a 'Clerical Institute of Diocesan Right'.

See the Papa Stronsay blog for the official statement.

Deo gratias! And thank you, Bishop Gilbert.

Pilgrimage to Chartres: setting off

Te great Pilgrimage to Chartres is setting off, from Notre Dame in Paris, where we have had Mass. We usually only have a blessing in the cathedral, and Mass at lunch time; this marks the 30th pilgrimage.

I am with the British chapters (we have two); I've seen the Australians, and Dr John Rao from the American chapter, who will be giving a talk at the LMS Conference on 9th June; he is a great supporter of the Chartres Pilgrimage.

I have also seen some of the Sons of the Holy Redermer; I spotted Fr Anthony Mary processing in the with the priests into Mass; the phots above is of one of a couple of postulants with banners.

Mass was a Missa Cantata, with a sermon, and blessing of the Pilgrims at the end, by an auxiliary bishop of Paris.

Although I was in the North aisle, with a restricted view, Mass in Notre Dame was very impressive, with scores of priests and chapters with their banners processing in and out.

Now comes the difficult part: walking 75 miles in two and a half days...

Meet some Sons!

As readers of our latest Newsletter letter will know, there will be a chance to meet two members of the community in London at the LMS Conference on 9th June.

The conference has five very interesting and well-known speakers: the blogger Fr John Zuhlsdorf, the historian Dr John Rao, Stuart McCullough of the Good Counsel Network, and John Hunwicke of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. It is very good value for money, at £20, reduced to £15 for LMS members, and takes place in the Regent Hall in Oxford Street, London.

In addition to the speakers, there will be stalls representing many Traditional Catholic groups and apostolates, including the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer, manned by two brothers, Br Marin Mary and Fr Jean Marie. Before the conference starts, between talks, and over lunch, there will be opportunities to talk to the brothers, and look at their display.

This is a great opportunity for our supporters to meet some of the community in the flesh, and ask them any questions they might have.

Book your tickets online here.
